We never thought we'd be starting this campaign. We never thought we'd find ourselves incapable of covering the cost of our mother's treatment. Nawal, our dear mom, has been fighting cancer for the past 5 years. She is a real warrior but her health is deteriorating very quickly. In 2017, she was diagnosed with lung and liver cancer. Our mom fought it well and won the battle. In 2021, cancer attacked her again but this time, it spread to her stomach and digestive system. As you can see in the photos, she cannot even eat anymore and has a long away ahead. Mom's life depends on the availability of medication, often out of stock in Lebanon due to the current crisis. She is supposed to have her medicine that costs 3000$, every week! We started this fundraiser hoping to gather as much as we can because we don't want anything to take our Mom away from us. We cannot stand seeing her in this situation so we rely on your support because our community has always been united. If you are reading this and you can contribute, we'd be extremely grateful. In 2015, our family found out that our mom suffers from a chronic brain tumor known as meningioma. She went in for her first operation, but there were no guarantees that the tumor would fully disappear. Two weeks ago, the tumor resurfaced to a diameter of 9cm putting extensive pressure on the entire nervous system and prompting all the opinions from the consulted doctors to conduct an emergency operation as soon as possible. We secured enough funds for the operation, and she managed to pull through, but sadly there were a lot of complications after the surgery which led us here to Fundahope. The current crisis in Lebanon has depleted all other forms of aid or funding, whether government or private sector. Our mother is currently in the ICU with an open tab on the costs of medical services amounting to $23,000 and exponentially increasing by the minute. Due to the political and economical crisis in Lebanon, she can rarely find her medication which is very expensive. She is pursuing a treatment for cancer, she is metastatic. It started with a cervix cancer but now she has cancerous nodes in her torso, neck and other parts of her body. She needs an immunotherapy treatment which is very expensive and the treatment cannot be found here in Lebanon (like almost all meds due to the crisis).my mom need injection wich is not found in lebanon every 3 weeks 2 injections (it cost us 4000$ to buy from outside)

FIGHT Period Poverty
The Reason behind the campaign: Lebanese women are facing period poverty, mainly difficulties in accessing menstrual hygiene tools because sanitary pads have become expensive and have increased by 320%. One pack was sold at 3.250 LL and nowadays it is sold for 30.000LL on average. 41.8%* have reduced the sanitary pads they use during their menstrual cycle or use the same pad for longer period. Also 76.5%* of females in Lebanon expressed difficulty in accessing menstrual products due to the sharp increase in prices. Period poverty is not only about hygiene and medical complication but also mental health. It may limit access to school, playing on sports team, socializing and this is alarming and must be considered. *According to Fe-Male study in collaboration with Plan International in 2021 Objective: Our target is to distribute 6 packs of sanitary pads per Lebanese women aged between 12 and 45 years old, so we can help her for around 4 months. Our aim is to help 15000 Lebanese woman from all over the country. The more we collect the more we help!
