Rebuilding Sri Lanka one family at a time
UPDATE: The My Pace or Yours team (Tharu , Kavi , Dinu and Dev) is participating in the Spitfire Scramble, a 24-hour multi-terrain relay race, to continue fundraising for Ani Nilavan Puvanesan and his outreach school in Sri Lanka. If you have caught news re Sri Lanka recently, it will probably have been about the political instability, the protests, the ban on buying/selling petrol, the daily power cuts, inflation running at 50% and the mass exodus of the youth. It is indeed a very difficult time for the country. However, Ani Nilavan and his team are hanging in there - still providing lessons for students and even expanding their services to poor and marginalized communities in the province. One of these activities is supporting entrepreneurs in rural villages, working with organizations such as the Centre for Peacebuilding and Reconciliation (CPBR) to help rebuild Sri Lanka one family at a time. Spitfire: https://www.spitfirescramble.co.uk ORIGINAL POST: Hi. I'm Tharusha Denuwan. I am hoping to raise money for ibridge, an educational facility in Mullaitivu, Sri Lanka. ibridge is improving the work-readiness of local youth in an area heavily affected by civil war and where youth unemployment rates are above 30%. By running courses in English, IT and entrepreneurship, ibridge provides 16-23 year olds additional qualifications and skills to help them to enter the workforce. Ani Nilavan Puvanesan (22), started the school last year. After providing support to 200+ students, ibridge is now relocating from the local community hall to a dedicated premises with two classrooms and a potential library/IT suite. The team has been preparing the new premises (see pictures of them painting) to open this month, but a national covid lockdown has thwarted that timeline. They are taking advantage of this forced delay by building partnerships, further developing their curriculum and spreading the word. The delay has however led to a shortfall in funds. I have been working with Ani Nilavan for the past few months and have been incredibly impressed by his desire to make the world a fairer place and his ability to get things done. A true change-maker. I am therefore trying to help from afar by raising funds to cover his shortfall. We forecast that LKR 3 000 000 (approx. $10,000) would bridge the team to a new opening date in January 2022. Any small amount you could donate to that total would assist Ani Nilavan and his team greatly in reducing poverty, reducing inequality and empowering young people. Thank you ...

I am in hardship

I am in hardship
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to share my vision for a project that I believe can bring hope and relief to many individuals facing hardships, including myself. My dream is to establish an organic vegetable and fruit farm in a serene, rural area surrounded by nature, where the community can thrive and find solace from the stresses of modern life. The idea is to create a town that I would like to call "Secret Town," a place where people can come together to cultivate organic produce and enjoy the benefits of a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle. This town would be built using natural materials, such as mud and leaves, to create an eco-friendly environment that harmonizes with the surrounding jungle. The community would have access to natural ponds, providing a sustainable water source for our farming efforts. In this town, I envision a supportive community where food, clothing, and essential items are affordable and accessible to everyone. By growing our own organic fruits and vegetables, we can ensure that the community has access to healthy, nutritious food at little to low cost. This initiative aims not only to alleviate the financial burdens of purchasing food but also to promote a healthier lifestyle and a deeper connection to nature. However, to turn this vision into reality, I am in need of financial assistance. Currently, I lack the funds to purchase land, seeds, and other necessary supplies to start this project. I am reaching out to kind-hearted individuals who may be willing to support this initiative, whether through donations, any other form Your generosity could help create a sanctuary for those in need, a place where they can find peace, purpose, and community. I believe that together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of many individuals who are struggling. By establishing "Secret Town," we can create a model for sustainable living that not only benefits our community but also serves as an inspiration for others. I am committed to ensuring that this project remains focused on helping others and fostering a sense of belonging and support. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I sincerely hope that you will consider supporting this vision for a better, more sustainable future for our community. create a stunning place—a safe haven where stress dissipates, and nature flourishes. The success of Secret Town will not only transform my life but also touch countless others, allowing them to enjoy wholesome low cost food and a peaceful environment completely free of charge. Thank you for considering my request. Your kind support can make a profound difference in my life and in the lives of those who will benefit from this community. I am hopeful for a positive response and greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide. With heartfelt gratitude,

Let’s Put Out Fires with Akkar Trail team
Support Campaign for Akkar Trail’s Wildfire Response Efforts – #WeExtinguishToProtect | #منطفي_لنحمي In Akkar, North Lebanon, wildfires are no longer a seasonal threat—they’ve become a harsh and destructive reality, worsened by climate change, prolonged droughts, and relentless heatwaves. Since 2020, the Akkar Trail Wildfire Response Team has been Lebanon’s first volunteer-based unit specialized in fighting forest fires in rugged, hard-to-reach terrains. Working alongside Civil Defense, municipalities, and local communities, the team has played a vital role in reducing wildfire impact across the region. But today, the team is facing its toughest season yet—with almost no resources left. The situation is urgent: Only two firefighting vehicles, both in desperate need of repair Trained volunteers waiting without proper protective equipment No budget for fuel, hoses, or essential safety gear An early and intense fire season, triggered by severe drought In short: The willpower is there. The expertise is proven. But the support is missing. Let’s put it out together. Your donation will directly support: ✔ Repairing and equipping fire trucks ✔ Purchasing essential tools and protective gear ✔ Fueling and sustaining field operations ✔ Training and outfitting new volunteers Protecting a tree today is better than planting one tomorrow. #WeExtinguishToProtect | #منطفي_لنحمي Donate now – and be part of the first line of defense for Lebanon’s forests.

Protect Young Girls from Danger and Keep Them Safe

Protect Young Girls from Danger and Keep Them Safe
Water for Life: Empowering Bukoba with safe water, security to young girls and women, bring hope and opportunity Dear Friends and Supporters, My name is Seif Khalifan, and I am reaching out to you with an urgent and heartfelt plea for help. I am fundraising to provide safe and sanitary water to the residents of Bukoba district in Kagera, Tanzania, where over 67,409 people in five villages are struggling with access to clean water. This lack of access to safe water is not just a daily inconvenience and it is a serious public health issue, and it is hindering the future of an entire generation. The wards affected by this crisis include: - Kaibanja Ward - Nyakibimbili Ward - Katoro Ward - Kyamulaile Ward - Izimbya Ward For these communities, obtaining water is a long, dangerous journey. Families are forced to use contaminated sources of water that cause waterborne diseases, making them vulnerable to illnesses like cholera and dysentery. But there is a deeper, more tragic impact on the lives of young girls and women in these areas. Many girls have been forced to drop out of school simply because they spend most of their time fetching water, which prevents them from pursuing their education and achieving their dreams. What's even more heart-wrenching is the troubling rise in gender-based violence. In 2024 alone, *506 girls and women were victims of rape* while making these dangerous trips to collect water. This is a heartbreaking reality for a community already suffering from the lack of clean water and resources. The need is urgent. By providing safe, accessible water sources within these villages, we can help eliminate the threat of disease, reduce the time and danger involved in fetching water, and ultimately empower young girls to stay in school and build better futures for themselves and their families. What your donation will do: 1. Build safe water wells and filtration systems in the affected villages. 2. Establish community-led water management systems to ensure long-term sustainability. 3. Educate the local communities on sanitation practices and hygiene. 4. Provide protection and support for vulnerable girls and women, ensuring their safety as they go about their daily lives. This cause is not just about water…it’s about changing lives. It’s about giving children a chance to learn, women a chance to thrive, and entire communities the opportunity to break free from the cycle of poverty and violence. Join us in making a difference.* Your support, no matter how big or small, will help provide life-saving water and give the people of Bukoba the hope and opportunities they deserve. Together, we can make this vision a reality. Thank you for your kindness and support. With hope, Seif Khalifan Fundraiser for Safe Water in Bukoba, Tanzania
