My mother is a single woman in her fifties, living with my younger brother in a dangerous neighborhood because safer housing is unaffordable. Her home has already been broken into, and she lives in constant fear for her safety every single day.

Her monthly income barely covers rent and food, leaving nothing for emergencies or medical care. She also has thyroid cancer and cannot afford consultations or treatment. Every day she works while sick, because if she stops, she and my brother could immediately end up homeless.

I try to help as much as I can, but as her eldest daughter, I cannot secure her safety or her future alone.

This fundraiser is to buy my mother a safe and secure home—somewhere she and my brother can live without fear, somewhere she can finally have stability and a chance to focus on her health.
